Nova Ilidza is the new district situated in the valley of the river Zeljenzica, the alluvial plain surrounded by the mountainous area of Sarajevo. The geography of the site, the vast area of the river and its natural banks, the woody masses of the Park Vrelo Bosne guide the concept and its adaptation into the environment. The urban structure of Nova Ilidza establishes a strong relationship with the river and the mountainous context: the new topography puts in relation the buildings with the close and far environment, protecting the ground from the floods of Zeljenzica.
The river and the parkway show the strongest traces of the recent development. A transversal pattern puts in relation these two structuring axes, it set up the rainwater management system, it defined the division of the lots of the urbanization, and establish a plot to the public and private places.
